Once Upon a Time

Introduction

Once Upon a Time illustration by Angie Thompson

Fairytales come to Ormskirk!

Two West Lancashire artists, Matthew Roby and Angie Thompson, have been commissioned to produce the a series on artworks based on the theme of Fairytales. Matthew, originally from UpHolland, has created a series of images that reinterpret traditional fairytales by The Brothers Grimm. Angie Thompson, based in Ormskirk, has illustrated her own original fairytale inspired by Ormskirk's rich history.

The art works have been commissioned by West Lancashire Borough Council’s Leisure Services to help support actions contained within the Ormskirk Town Centre Strategy.

The overall 'fairytale' theme brings together a series of creative projects in Ormskirk Town Centre, including illustrated banners on Moor Street, a large-scale exhibition at the Chapel Gallery and pop-up exhibitions in vacant shop sites.

Please email your thoughts on the artworks to chapel.gallery@westlancs.gov.uk , we’d love to hear them, and follow us on Twitter @westlancsbc and @Chapel_Gallery for more information on developments.
